The removal of powder from this colonial arsenal by order of Lord Dunmore on April 21, 1775, precipitated the Revolution in Virginia. Erected about 1715, it is owned by the Society for the pPreservation of Virginia Antiquities, was restored and is exhibited by Colonial Williamsburg. The small building in the background is a guardhouse.
