Burr-Hamilton Duel - July 11, 1804
Aaron Burr, who had been Vice President, and Alexander Hamilton, who had been the first Secretary of the Treasury, were political enemies. Burr challenged Hamilton to a duel which was fought July 11, 1804, and in which Hamilton was mortally wounded.
